NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using.
The primary purpose of Narcotics Anonymous is to carry the message of recovery to the addict who still suffers. So that our groups can remain focused on this primary purpose we have formed a service structure. Several groups pool there resources and form an area, areas join together to form a region, regions combine to make a forum or assembly, and these forums or assemblies comprise the world service conference. These service bodies take care of things like printing & distributing meeting schedules & other literature, administering phone hotlines, and providing fellowship activities such as conventions. The Red River Region Service Committee is one such body, made up of the OklaTex, Chisholm Trail, and Trail of Tears Areas of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. We only keep what we have by giving it away.
